Flatspot is a rough first version of a high-contrast neo-grotesque typeface that is situated between historical references of the 50s and the display principle of pixels. The typeface is intended for digital use, but the flattened curve areas disappear completely in print from about 12pt, making it suitable for editorial use as well. The current state of the family includes four weights, which are sufficient as a basis for versatile design. In the near future, a refined version will follow, which will include not only more weights, but also true italics.
